International Riesling Symposium 2017
Eltville, May 29-30, 2017
Every three years the best international Riesling winemakers meet in Germany. They discuss with sommeliers, influencers, scientists and other experts about current and future trends in the winemaking and on the market for Riesling.
In 2017, Wilhelm Weil from winery Robert Weil hosted the International Riesling Symposium in the Rheingau region. The location Kloster Eberbach was a perfect door into the past but also into the future of Riesling. Wine tastings, lectures and networking mixed up nicely to a great event.
The absolute highlight: tasting all quality levels of the famous vintage of 1959's Kloster Eberbach Steinberger Riesling: Cabinet, Spätlese, Auslese, Beerenauslese, Edelbeerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslese. This ended in standing ovations.
For those who could not wait an unbelievable experience was organized one day before the Symposium: The "Rheingau mystery tour" opened the doors of the magic wine cellars of Schloss Johannisburg, Schloss Vollrads and winery Robert Weil. Simply unforgettable!
